First Church of God- PC- at the corner of Old Business 98 and Satsuma Dr. in Watson Bayou has a wonderful 5th Sunday tradition. It’s their 5:19 Service. On 5th Sundays throughout the year they gather at 5:19 pm in a spirit of community, embracing Ephesians 5:19, “….Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.”
Tonight, July 30, 2017, Titus 2 students and staff were privileged to be a part of the 5:19 event. Nashville songwriter, Katy Kinard, was the guest musician. She led us in hymns, shared personal stories about life and songs, witnessed through her own testimony, and sang some of her original songs. She was a delightful worship leader and message bearer.
After the musical worship service, all were invited to participate in the Church of God’s “Green Tea,” a denomination-wide fundraiser to provide linens and other needs for missionaries who are home on furlough. The church’s ladies had prepared quite a feast of sweet and savory treats for the tea. Gifts of “green giving” were clipped to a tree on the table with decorative miniature clothes pins for the missions contribution.
Titus 2 is privileged to have a partnership with First Church of God- PC and other churches that connect with and create community for women starting their lives afresh! Thanks to Katy Kinard for sharing her musical gift with us tonight!
